Alana helps to prepare the Raisin and cinnamon bread!

By:Tracie Phua

Alana was invited to prepare the favourite bread at Titoki, the Raisin & Cinnamon bread.

She was patient and took turns with her brother Sam and Renee to get all the ingredients into the mixture. Using a tablespoon, Alana carefully scooped 2 of them from the milk powder container and poured it into the bread making container.  She also had a turn measuring the 400 ml of water and pouring some into the mix. Alana, it was great to see your care and responsibility with your work.

Thank you for your help to make our bread. Now you know how to make the Raisins & Cinnamon bread! I wonder if you can help Mum or Dad to do that at home too 🙂

What learning do I think is happening here?

Alana is practising her practical life skills of pouring and spooning. She is learning about measuring and about the ingredients required to make bread. Alana is refining her gross and fine motor skills and extending her ability to concentrate and work together with others in a group.

Opportunities and possibilities?

We will continue to give Alana many opportunities to be involved in food preparation here at school and many opportunities (through the exercises in practical life) to practise the skills needed to complete these tasks
