Alana, we are so thrilled to have you and your family as part of the Titoki community ! You have settled in really well Smile

On your first visit to our school in early July, you declared “this is my kindergarten”. We are really pleased that you felt a sense of belonging from your first school visit.

Throughout your first few weeks with us, we have seen how delighted you are each time you learn something new. There will be lots to learn at Titoki!

Today, you saw some of the other children working with me on the sand paper letters. You asked if I could work with you too.

We did and you learnt how to trace and sound the letters ‘a’, ‘l’ and ‘n’. They are the sounds in your name ! You were really pleased that you could pick up the correct letters when I tested you each time after I moved the letters while you closed your eyes!

I look forward to learning more sounds and letters with you in the days ahead!

What learning do I think is happening here?

Alana is learning the phonetic sounds of the letters through her tactile and auditory senses. Montessori observed that children learn best through their senses and the sandpaper letters are just one of the materials at Titoki that help children learn sensorially.

Opportunities and possibilities?

Alana’s enthusiasm for learning makes it easy for her to seize the many opportunities and possibilities that are available to her in the Montessori prepared environment. We will observe and follow her interests as she continues her learning journey at Titoki.
